Our standard preparation process utilizes mechanical diamond grinding to properly profile the concrete and create an appropriate surface for coating adhesion. Depending on the condition and circumstances of the slab, additional preparation or an MVB system may be recommended.

We also evaluate existing cracks, joints, surface imperfections, previous coatings, and other conditions that may affect the installation. Minor repairs can be addressed as part of the preparation process, while more significant concrete conditions may require additional consideration and pricing.

Proper preparation is not simply an additional step. It is a fundamental part of the flooring system. The products installed afterward can only perform as intended when the underlying concrete has been appropriately prepared.

A faster installation does not necessarily mean a better floor.

Many homeowners come across one-day garage coating systems and naturally assume that completing a project faster means receiving a better value. In reality, the installation timeline depends heavily on the products being used, the condition of the concrete, the preparation required, and the system selected for the space.

For many residential vinyl flake installations, our typical installation takes approximately two days. This allows the appropriate preparation and coating steps to be completed rather than rushing the process simply to finish the floor in a single day.

Our focus is on following the proper preparation and application methods for the selected system before anything goes down. Depending on the project, this can include mechanical grinding, repairs, primer or epoxy layers, decorative flake application, scraping and vacuuming, and the installation of the appropriate protective topcoat.

Vinyl flake flooring is one of our most popular residential coating systems, particularly for garages, basements, and other high-use areas.

Our standard flake systems incorporate multiple layers to create a durable and decorative finished floor. Depending on the selected system and project requirements, this can include an epoxy base, decorative vinyl flakes, and a protective polyaspartic topcoat.

Homeowners can choose from more than 20 vinyl flake blends available through our color selections. Our standard options include 1/4-inch flake blends as well as hybrid blends incorporating multiple flake sizes for a more customized appearance.

Custom flake combinations can also be requested when a standard blend does not provide the desired look. Custom options may involve additional cost depending on the materials and requirements.

As a general guideline, residential vinyl flake installations under approximately 800 square feet commonly take around two days. Larger projects may require three or more days depending on the size of the space, concrete repairs, preparation requirements, and coating system.

Solid color epoxy projects commonly take approximately two to three days, while custom metallic epoxy installations can require four to five or more days depending on the design, number of coats, preparation, and finishing requirements.

These are general guidelines rather than guaranteed installation times. A project requiring extensive concrete repairs or additional preparation may require additional time.

Residential floor coating pricing starts at approximately $6.00 per square foot, although the final cost varies depending on the individual project.

Factors that can affect pricing include the size of the space, existing concrete condition, required repairs, preparation requirements, selected coating system, decorative options, custom materials, and the intended use of the finished floor.

Newer concrete that has been properly poured and cured can sometimes require less preparation than older or heavily worn concrete. Existing coatings, surface damage, cracks, contamination, moisture-related conditions, and extensive repairs can all affect the amount of preparation required and therefore the overall project cost.

Because every concrete floor is different, we provide project-specific estimates rather than relying solely on a standard square-foot price.

There is no single coating system that is ideal for every residential floor. A garage exposed to vehicle traffic and winter conditions has different requirements than a basement, home gym, decorative interior space, or outdoor concrete surface.

Our recommendations are based on the environment the floor will experience throughout its life. We consider factors such as traffic, equipment, moisture, sunlight, abrasion, intended use, and the existing condition of the concrete when determining which system is appropriate.

This approach allows us to recommend a coating system based on performance requirements rather than simply selecting the fastest or least expensive installation.
